Mamavation Monday: Never Thought I Could Check This Off The Bucket List!

“When things go wrong, don’t go with them” – Elvis Presley

Thankful that this guy supports my dreams & goals. Oh and that he drove in this snow storm so I could go to the gym!

Thankful that this guy supports my dreams & goals. Oh and that he drove in this snow storm so I could go to the gym!

I have a bucket list that has been compiled for a few years now. Some items are dreams, some are vacations I can’t wait to take & some are goals. Due to Pinterest my bucket list keeps growing! I will be honest with you, some of the goals I had written down were more like “I wish” goals. I didn’t ever think that I would really be able to check them off. Not only do I plan to check them off, my goal now is to check them off by the time I am 30. My biggest fitness goals are run a full marathon and complete a triathlon.  Those are some lofty goals and before a couple of weeks ago they would have intimidated me.

As I am writing this post I feel like I am going to blow those goals out the water. That could be because I feel like a freaking rockstar right now! You may be wondering why I feel like that & I am a firm believer that a picture speaks a thousand words. So here you go!

Not only did I run the “Run Fur Fun” run but I also did my daily training for a triathlon too! I swam 1, 500 meters, biked 5 miles, ran 4.5 miles for the training and followed that up with my 3.1 miles for my “Run Fur Fun” run. Not a bad day at the gym I would say! You know it was a good trip when you go in looking fabulous and come out looking like a hot mess. I am ok with looking like a hot mess because I am so much skinnier in these running tights!

A little more then six months ago I began the journey of becoming a Mamavation mom. That decision to put it all out there again has forever changed my life. I never would have done a 5k let alone signed up to do 13 of them in 2013! I never would have made it a goal to do both a half and full marathon by the time I am 30. I certainly never would have thought I would more like could do a triathlon! I never thought that I would almost be back to my pre-pregnancy weight! Not even a year later though, this is the new me & I am doing all of those things!

I once saw a bumper sticker that said “nothing tastes as good as skinny feels” and now almost 100 pounds lighter I can say that it’s so true! Nothing could ever be as amazing as having to buy new {much smaller} clothes, being healthy, beating my scary family medical history and meeting my bucket list goals.

To say that I have been thru a lot these past months would be an understatement. It’s been rough but I made it and am stronger. Today I was able to do all that I did at the gym without a seizure, with out a headache and without feeling like I was going to pass out. Nothing is going to hold me back any longer!

    • Thank you so much Jennifer :) Good luck with your 5k! Don’t be anxious, you will do amazing! I was nervous because I didn’t want to be the last one but no matter what your time is you are lapping those who are still on the couch!! I love doing races with my husband, he may be the only person who can encouragingly “yell” at me to keep running. I look forward to the day when I am the one yelling!! Have a good week!

    • Thanks Jasmine :) I am so excited to be able to drive again!
I am so excited to go to the doctor now so I can see their face & jaw drop when they see my current weight next to my weight last visit!!

  1. You are amazing. You are inspiring and the poster child for “SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP” advocates everywhere. Congrats on your progress and goal crushing. Good luck with the 5k.

    • When I first joined I said to myself “One day I am going to be a Kia” you are seriously my inspiration. I do yoga every time and think of you. I told Adam a couple of weeks ago that I would love to live near you! I would have the best yoga teacher, hiking partner & cook! :) Love you!

p.s Suck it up Buttercup is going to be my new phrase :) xoxox

On the days I don’t feel like I can do it or want to quit my run early I remember my before pictures. They remind me how far I have come and to keep pushing myself! xoxo

  2. wow congratulations! I have only one thing that I really want to do and while it’s not that unattainable, I can’t seem to just go do it….learn to play the piano.

I have always wanted to play the piano too! I tried when I was younger but no luck! I may give it a try when I am older :)
